Magriet was born and raised in South Africa, with a brief two-year stay in England. She recently obtained an LLM (Energy and Infrastructure) degree from Osgoode, York University. Initially she received her LLB degree from the University of Pretoria in South Africa and articled in Pretoria and Johannesburg. After passing her bar exams,
Magriet was born and raised in South Africa, with a brief two-year stay in England. She recently obtained an LLM (Energy and Infrastructure) degree from Osgoode, York University. Initially she received her LLB degree from the University of Pretoria in South Africa and articled in Pretoria and Johannesburg. After passing her bar exams, she relocated to Canada in 2007.
Upon completing her Federation of Law Societies of Canada-mandated equivalency exams through the National Committee of Accreditation, she moved to Dawson Creek in 2010 to commence and complete her articles with a local firm. She has been a practicing lawyer in Dawson Creek since February 2011, with experience in Wills, Estates, Corporate, Family, Real Estate and other areas of law.
She is active in the community and volunteered at the South Peace Community Resource Society, where she was the chair of the board of directors for two years. As a Rotarian, she was President for the 2018/2019 term at the Dawson Creek Club. She enjoys the outdoors and loves being part of this diverse, dynamic, vibrant Northern community.
Service can be provided in English or Afrikaans, as she is a fully bilingual dual citizen.
